This show by Christabel Blackburn for Alex Eagle Studio will explore our interaction with space and architecture and the duality between isolation and the city. The paintings, many large scale, will conjure moments of nostalgia and reflect upon identity and belonging. It will run from 20th May until 30th June 2022.
Christabel Blackburn is a painter who conjures atmospheric scenes which focus on the interplay between people and spaces. Using a sensitively reduced visual language, Blackburn distils the modern world and our interaction with it into quiet, concentrated scenes. Her figures are largely locked in their own universe, traversing streets formed of intersecting flat planes or drinking in art in colour drenched galleries.
