Richard Avedon Gabrielle Chanel, Couturière, Paris March 6, 1958
Born in NYC in the early 20s, Richard Avedon was an American fashion and portrait photographer. The New York Times said that “his fashion and portrait photographs helped define America’s image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century”. His brand-defining work and long associations with Calvin Klein, Revlon, Versace, and dozens of other companies resulted in some of the best-known advertising campaigns in American history.
